Your live portfolio, inside Claude
For LPs and the teams supporting them, AI tools like Claude are genuinely powerful — until you actually try to use them on portfolio work.
A question as simple as “what’s my total exposure to Groq?” still means hunting across emails, GP portals, fund admin reports, and a stack of spreadsheets. The AI can write the analysis. It just doesn’t have the data.
Mantle Portal now connects directly to Claude, closing that gap. The new Mantle Portal MCP Connector is the bridge between the structured portfolio intelligence Mantle builds from your investment documents, and the AI tools your team already uses.
Ask questions in plain language. Get answers grounded in your live portfolio data, with citations back to the source documents.
Mantle Portal MCP Connector: What it does
The Mantle Portal MCP Connector brings your portfolio data directly into Claude. This includes things like:
- Fund positions
- Look-through exposure to underlying portfolio companies
- Fair values and cost basis extracted from the Schedule of Investments
- Full text of your LP documents (LPAs, capital call notices, K-1s, quarterly investor reports)
Simply ask a question, and every answer is grounded in what’s actually in Mantle Portal with verifiable citations back to the source.
Two things worth noting about the architecture:
- Live data. Claude queries Mantle Portal in real time. New data shows up the moment it’s in Portal — no refresh, no cache, no scheduled replication.
- Access mirrors Mantle Portal. Each user authenticates their own Mantle Portal account. The connector only returns data that user can already see in Portal.
It’s built for the teams that feel this problem hardest: family offices managing multi-fund, multi-entity portfolios; endowments, pensions, and foundations consolidating data across dozens of GPs; and fund-of-funds GPs who need look-through visibility into underlying portfolio companies.
What you can do with the Mantle Portal MCP Connector
1. Look-through exposure in seconds
“Using Mantle Portal, what’s my total look-through exposure to Groq? Show number of funds, total cost basis, fair value, and multiple.”
Claude pulls every position holding Groq across every fund and entity you own, rolls it up, and returns the consolidated numbers — without you needing to name the individual funds. The same pattern works for concentration analysis (“show me my top 10 portfolio companies by fair value”) and impairment exposure (“which holdings are written down to zero?”).
2. Document research at scale
“Summarize the key portfolio updates from this quarter’s investor reports across all my investments. Flag anything related to write-downs, exits, or fundraising delays.”
Reading every quarterly letter across thirty fund relationships used to be the thing that didn’t get done. Now Claude reads them, summarizes them, and flags what matters — citing the specific report and page so you can verify before sharing with your IC.
3. Capital and deployment
“What’s my total committed vs. deployed capital across all funds and entities? Which funds have deployed the most relative to my commitment?”
The classic spreadsheet exercise, answered conversationally and pulled fresh from your current Portal data.
4. Performance and concentration
“Which portfolio companies have appreciated the most above cost basis?”
Useful for LPs sizing winners, and especially useful for fund-of-funds GPs who need to see through the fund wrapper to underlying company performance.
Security
A few details worth knowing for IT and compliance review:
- OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. All traffic encrypted in transit over TLS 1.2+.
- No caching on Mantle’s side. Claude fetches data per-prompt — no background syncs, no bulk export, no replicated copy.
- Audit trail. Every connector request is logged at the Portal level: timestamp, user, and the data fetched.
- Revokable. Mantle can disable the connector for your organization at any time, with no Claude-side changes required.
What Anthropic does with your queries is governed by your Claude account settings, not by Mantle. Before using the connector with sensitive portfolio data, we recommend reviewing your settings at claude.ai/settings/data-privacy-controls, particularly the “Help improve Claude” training toggle on the Free and Pro plans.
(Claude Team and Enterprise plans do not train on customer data by default.)

Why we built it this way
The design principle is straightforward: your portfolio data should live in Portal, and you should be able to ask anything about it from the AI tools you already use, in the language you actually think in.
The connector is on-demand, per-prompt, and access-aware, so the security boundary you already trust in Portal extends directly into Claude.
