When speaking to users of existing platforms, we uncovered a common pain point around diligence. Founders often have to dig through a trove of PDFs to answer the most basic questions related to their cap tables.
With existing platforms, it was also hard for users to know which date to pull up a historic cap table for, so they’d wind up spending a lot of time bouncing back and forth between dates to try and figure out when a particular event took place.
That led us to create one of the most loved features of Mantle – the Timeline View.
Timeline View: What it is & how it works
Mantle’s Timeline View offers users an event-based visual representation of their company’s cap table from genesis to the present day.
Not only does Timeline View assist in finding key moments of interest, but it goes a step further and can show what the cap table was like at that specific point in time. After pinpointing a date of interest, you can easily shift back to the Cap Table View, putting historic cap table and security ledger exports at your fingertips.
Let’s dive deeper into Mantle’s Timeline View features:
Filters & Search
Filter by Stakeholders:
If you’re looking to understand how a particular stakeholder got to the share count they’re at now, you can filter down to security branches that stakeholder was involved in. This can provide great context on the ebbs and flows of ownership, especially in cases where a company has had a lot of secondaries.
You can also select more than one stakeholder to filter on, so if you have any VCs with multiple funds participating, Mantle has you covered there too.
Filter by Security Type:
You can also filter by security type. This can help you focus on specific aspects of your equity plan or revisit past financing rounds with ease.

Focus Mode
For laser-focused due diligence, activate Focus Mode. This feature streamlines your view, displaying only the key dates and securities for review. For anyone looking to run due diligence, this can help focus attention on the succession of securities and documents involved in getting the cap table to where it is today.
Mantle’s Timeline View changes the game when it come to navigating cap tables efficiently and effectively. By addressing the common pain points of founders, Timeline View revolutionizes the way users interact with their company’s financial history.
